Recounting a Big 2016 for Farkas’ Island Capital Group

As the controlling parent company of six major organizations operating in the real estate industry, Island Capital Group has had a big year filled with acquisitions and awards.

Headquartered in New York City, New York, Island Capital Group was founded in 2003 by Andrew Farkas and has become a leading international real estate merchant bank that controls several real estate services companies. The diverse group of companies controlled by Island Capital Group offer an array of real estate related activities ranging in commercial mortgage servicing and principal investment to fund management and financial advisory and consulting services. Island Capital Group’s company portfolio includes C-III Capital Partners LLC, Island Global Yachting, Ltd., Applied Technology Management, C-Bridge Capital Partners, Anubis Securities LLC and ICG Realty LLC.

One of the more well-known companies within the portfolio is C-III Capital Partners LLC, a commercial real estate services and investment management company that has been providing real estate equity and debt solutions since the organization’s inception in 2010. And although C-III is still relatively young, the company has been largely successful, as it currently manages over $3.7 billion in assets.

However, this year alone brought about several noteworthy accomplishments for C-III. In September 2016, C-III completed the acquisition of Resource America, Inc., an asset management company specializing in real estate and credit investments. Additionally, C-III received the “Real Estate Investment Management Long Term Fund Performance” award and “CMBS Servicer of the Year” award from the leading industry publication, Real Estate Finance & Investment.

And while it is quite clear C-III has had a notable year, other companies within Island Capital Group’s portfolio have also seen success in 2016.  Kenny Jones, Executive Vice President of Operations of Island Global Yachting, was featured as a key speaker at the International Council of Marine Industry Associations in Amsterdam in November 2016. Island Global Yachting, a marine real estate company specializing in acquisition, management and serving of luxury-yacht marinas, has been revolutionizing the nautical tourism industry since its inception in 2005. Offering unparalleled top-quality service and management since their inception in 2005, Island Global Yachting has earned a reputation for being the best in the space and thus has been looked to as a leader in the industry.

Major successes seen by Island Capital Group would not be possible without the leadership and guidance of Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Farkas. Growing his career in 1990 with the founding of Insignia Financial Group, Inc., Farkas was responsible for growing the company to one of the top three global leading commercial real estate service firms. Since then Farkas has founded several private real estate business, including Island Capital Group, C-III Capital Partners and Island Global Yachting.
